Elvis + Frank
As we settled back in Sydney, we felt that we were missing something. For a while we couldn’t put our finger on it, but soon enough we realised. We were missing B.D.E – that’s right, Big Dog Energy.
That is when we decided to adopt Elvis, the Ridgeback. From the moment we laid eyes on Elvis we were smitten. The Marsh family officially had a new addition. Now, keeping in mind, Elvis was almost double the size of Bondi and Bronte (when we first collected him!), but those little girls kept him in line. No one could believe me when I said the poodles still ran the show.
At the end of 2022 we made the huge decision of moving houses. I must add, this house was not just a house. This was a home. We had lived there for ten years, seen our babies grow into children and so quickly, grow into incredible adults. We had hosted parties, celebrated wins – memories that will last a lifetime were made in this home. However, I believe life is everchanging and it was time to expand into a gorgeous house in Double Bay. A house which our family will make a home. This house would accommodate Elvis’ BDE.
Now, call us crazy – but don’t they always say two is better than one? Introducing…. Frank! Frank is another Ridgeback who our family felt instantly drawn to adopt. Frank was fully grown, however, had not been given the life any animal should. Frank had lived his life alone mostly in a small cage. Frank still to this day is not used to open spaces and being around people, which has made his training process slightly more difficult. The challenge of helping Frank has been more than worth it. Elvis and him now play together, which I must admit – Elvis is loving having some BDE around him (no offence Bondi and Bronte, of course).
In our family, pets are more than just dogs. They are family. The love and loyalty we share and the happiness they have brought us is beyond what words can explain. I always think back to the movie ‘Marley and Me’ when I think of my animals, and the quote which reads ‘a dog doesn’t care if you are rich or poor, educated, or illiterate, clever, or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his’. My families’ hearts are well and truly given to our precious pets.
